I have been a picture framer for over 20 years, originally learning the craft from my father who was an artist at the time with his own gallery and gift shop (where I was a manager) and who made his own frames. I passed the Fine Art Trade Guild Commended Framer exam in 2001 and after my parents retired I purchased the rear of the premises and started my own picture framing business keeping their original shop name Glastonbury Galleries, which I have run since 2004.
I pride myself on offering a first class standard of work using only high quality materials at a competitive price. My artistic flair (inherited from my father) and my experience, help me to transform all types of work into something special for you to display with pride. I have done a lot of work for the antiques trade too and can advise the best way to enhance and preserve the integrity of all manner of collections and ephemera.
My shop is divided into a gallery area displaying mainly local artists work, cards and a few gifts, and my workshop where you can see the work in progress. Browsers are welcome and I and my staff are always happy to help with advice or quotes. If you telephone for advice and/or quotes, please be aware that this can never be truly accurate without actually seeing the work as there are so many variables. However, all quotes are freely given so please don't feel that if you come in you will be obliged to accept. Sorry, I do not accept framing by post - it is far to risky for both parties.
All framing, whenever possible, complies with the conservation standard as stipulated by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
I offer all my advice and quotes freely and am happy to help artists with ideas for framing for exhibitions in a professional way at the most reasonable prices. There are also ideas for mounting only and other ways of presentation. Artist's discounts may also be offered for volume orders.
